VENUE CHANGE FOR AUGUST 19
FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE
(Salina, KS 08-16) Salina Arts & Humanities, in collaboration with downtown stakeholders, announces the next Friday Night Live concert event on August 19th. Due to anticipated storms, the concert, featuring Everyday Lights, has been moved from Campbell Plaza to the Salina Art Center. (see highlighted details below).
Friday Night Live is a series of arts and entertainment programming for Salina residents and visitors designed to increase attendance and participation in arts-related events and to strengthen partnerships with local business owners in the downtown arts district. Each week, a free-admission Friday Night Live concert will feature music and poetry in restaurants, bars, outdoor plazas and other venues.
This week’s Friday Night Live performers are local favorite Everyday Lights. This group of Salina-based musicians has played many venues such as the Smoky Hill River Festival and the Sunken Gardens at Marymount. Everyday Lights has a great love for folk and jazz rhythms. The ensemble plays original music composed of unique instrumentation and improvised harmony, which gives it a fresh, creative sound. The band’s incorporation of American roots music styles, including country, roots-rock, folk, bluegrass and blues always keeps the audience guessing and looking forward to the next song. Everyday Lights is a wonderful treat for the whole family, so bring a lawn chair and relax downtown with friends for this wonderful edition of Friday Night Live.
Tonight’s show is from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at the Salina Art Center at 242. Santa Fe, immediately following a reception and remarks for the completion of the new SAC front-façade wall mural. Concert admission is free. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements about the rest of Friday Night Live programming for August and September.
